Quick and Simple Coffee Jelly Recipe
It’s been a long time since I’ve been away from blogging!… After Golden Week here in Japan, things get back to the normal routine. The season slowly changed to summer and I’ve got my winter clothes washed and kept for the next cold season.
I drink my warm beverages still during the early morning but as noon approaches, I love to indulge in cold drinks and desserts. As a coffee lover, I want to try all kinds of coffee and I think I should make a dessert with it. Luckily, I was able to declutter my cupboard and found leftover packets of gelatin powder with a recipe written on the small slip of paper. And I thought, wow I should give this coffee jelly recipe a try!
Benefits of gelatin on skin
As a middle-aged woman, I am thinking of ways how to maintain a youthful glow on my skin. Aside from doing a skincare routine twice a day, I think we should carefully consider what we eat.
Collagen comes in many forms now. They can be from bone broth, supplements, bottled drinks, and jellies. And one affordable source of collagen is the gelatin powder.
Gelatin is rich in protein and amino acids which can help the body build more collagen, a vital element in healthy skin. As people age, their natural collagen levels drop. And this can lead to losing elasticity and the development of wrinkles.
Gelatin can be used in cooking especially here in Japan. And one recipe I want to share with you is Coffee Jelly.
Ingredients
250ml coffee
1 tbsp. sugar
100ml. fresh cream
1 packet (5 grams) of gelatin powder
Procedure
- Warm the coffee to about 80C, add sugar, and mix.
- Sprinkle the jelly, mix well, and dissolve, put in a bowl, and chill in the refrigerator to harden.
- Prepare a bowl of iced water. In a separate smaller bowl, put the fresh cream and place it above the iced water and whip it using a whisk.
- Place the whipped cream on top of the coffee jelly mixture and garnish with your favorite fruit or mint leaves.
Optional: You can also use coffee jelly in cold latte drinks by slicing it into cubes.
